We at Finding Your Well are proud to join forces with Sutter Delta Medical Center to introduce a transformative initiative: a Journal Writing Club designed to enhance resilience and well-being among healthcare professionals. In the demanding world of healthcare, fostering mental and emotional health is paramount. Our Journal Writing Club provides Sutter Delta's dedicated staff with a creative and reflective outlet, promoting personal growth and resilience through the power of expressive writing. This isn't just about writing—it's about building a supportive community where experiences are shared, and connections are strengthened.
Kudos to the staff putting resilience approaches into practice. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with such a forward-thinking institution. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, more resilient healthcare workforce.
In our fast-paced work environments, pausing for meaningful #dialogue can lead to deeper #connections, enhanced hashtag#collaboration, and improved mental well-being. Kudos to the many divisions within UC Berkeley School of Public Health that I have had the honor of coaching over the last 2 years, for being open to coming together today to begin a new hashtag#restorative engagement process. These moments of genuine exchange allow work teams to recharge, gain new hashtag#perspectives, build solidarity, and build a stronger, more supportive hashtag#community. Let's prioritize these hashtag#conversations and create a hashtag#workculture where every voice is valued.
The NWD program at Samuel Merritt University has concluded another successful year. Our end of the year celebration was supported by our partnering professional organizations, @Bay Area Black Nurses Association, @Golden Gate NAHN chapter, and @Lambda Chi Chi Beta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Nursing Sorority.
I am so grateful for our Leadership Team. Many thanks to Dr. Cynthia Stacy DNP, MSN, RN and Marcus Adeshima Penn, MD, CYT for all you do to make this program a success. You all are amazing colleagues and I count it all joy to work alongside you. You make my role as the Program Director, easy. Our work as the Trinamic Trio is top notch!
We're thrilled to have been invited by WISE Health SF to support their incredible interns/staff who have been dedicated to providing wellness services for the unhoused in the SF Bayview area. At our organization, we believe in the power of community and the importance of wellness for those who serve. That's why we are grateful to have offered a #SacredNap Experience to these hardworking individuals after their community work. It's our way of showing appreciation and ensuring they have the energy and well-being to continue their impactful efforts. Thank you, Brittney Doyle, founder of WISE Health SF, for your commitment to improving the lives of those in need. Together, we are making a difference!
It was an absolute pleasure this week to facilitate "Finding Your Well" training for some #dedicated staff at Sutter Delta Medical Center during their Hospital Week. Today's training theme, "Embrace Your Greatness While in Community," truly embodied the spirit of the week and resonated deeply with everyone involved. Working with such a #committed and #passionate team was inspiring. The staff's enthusiasm and engagement during the training sessions were remarkable, highlighting their unwavering dedication to personal and professional growth. I am thrilled at the prospect of continuing our collaboration throughout this year. Together, we will further the mission of promoting #wellness and embracing greatness within the community. A heartfelt thank you to the entire Sutter Delta Medical Center team for their warm welcome and incredible energy. I look forward to many more opportunities to support and work alongside such an outstanding group of professionals! Shout out to Shamia Robertson for all your coordinating efforts!
"What does a 'well' non-profit board look like?" That's one of the questions our co-founder Cardum Penn and co-facilitator Erica Horn explored with our client, Heart and Soul, Inc., in a recent Board Retreat at our venue. Kudos to the Board members and organizational leadership in attendance as they opened themselves to courageous conversation and enlightening engagement throughout the full day retreat. With gratitude to Ophelia Mattox, James Gordon, Briana Evans, Lauren Sather, Calvin Shelton, Deborah Wright for your whole hearted participation.
Many thanks to UC Berkeley Haas Business School DEIB Director Katrina Koski, MDR, and my facilitation partner, UC Berkeley School of Public Health DEIB Director, Che Abram, for the 2-Day Business Student Leader Virtual Training Series invitation to explore, define, examine and practice #PsychologicalSafety in Organizations. I asked this question below to start the exploration process. What came of it was the realization that "practicing the answers" to this question is just the start to creating Psychological Safety for yourself and your organization. How would you answer this question within your team or organization?
Last Sunday I had the honor and pleasure to serve as panelist and attendee of a #SelfCompassion Day Retreat with an emphasis on health practitioners from around the world. Many thanks to Vaishali Jogi for my invitation to serve, Nirmala and Robert for their fantastic facilitation, and Andrea Lieberstein and Sister Elizabeth as fellow panelists. In partnership with the #JankiFoundation and #BrahmaKumaris Organization at #AnubhutiRetreatCenter, we explored many questons.
As as one of our recent clients, California State University, Fullerton School of Nursing truly explored their wellness journey as a collective. Their #courageous journey toward collective #resilience was guided by our 3 Core Tenets: 1)Finding Your Well, 2)Defining Your Good, 3)Embracing Your Greatness. Their brave efforts during this retreat allowed them to embody their collective vision and fortify their individual "wells."
Cardum is a collaborator and leader in the fieldof health and wellness with a focus on mental health. Her experience and expertise is an asset to any projector organization of which she is a part.
I have had the privilege to work with Cardum for over three years and have been impressed with her management of a countywide wellness program that increased information and access to whole health tools for culturally and ethnically diverse communities.
Cardum is highly knowledgable, dependable, dedicated and a team player. I wholeheartedly recommend her.
I have worked closely with Cardum for approximately three years in her role as Alameda County's 10 x 10 Wellness Campaign Manager, and my 40 years working in the public mental health system has enabled me recognize a diamond when I see one. Cardum is a diamond of the highest quality. Her personal values, life experience, interpersonal skills, speaking, writing, organizing and research acumen, coupled with her perseverance and hard work, is what makes her a precious gem. When I had the opportunity to hire her to be a project consultant for a program of Mental Health Consumer Concerns, addressing the role of spirituality in the faith community and helping persons with mental health issues in recovery, I sought her out for the position. She did an excellent job. Cardum is indeed one-of-a-kind and in her work ethic, she leaves no stone unturned.
Dr. Marcus Penn is a true professional and compassionate human being. I had the pleasure of working with him on a pilot for a television series titled "Alive Again" where he appeared in the show as a Medical Correspondent. He reviewed medical records from the person who had a verified near death experience and spoke with great depth and conviction which took the pilot to a heightened level of authenticity. Words cannot express our gratitude for his in-depth medical knowledge of the human body and how he was able to use that to authentically and enthusiastically bring our pilot story to a higher level. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking health and wellness!
Marcus Adeshima was a frequent guest facilitator at OneLife Institute's community healing retreats over a number of years. He led yoga for mixed-ability groups during the silent portion of our retreat day. This means he had to teach without words! The quality of his compassionate presence and attention to each participant in the group was outstanding, and his yoga flows always deeply centering. He has my highest recommendation.
Dr. Penn was one of my Nursing Workforce Diversity grant leaders while at Samuel Merritt University. Every month he held restorative counseling sessions and made sure to provide us students with a safe space to discuss issues not just pertaining to our time while in nursing school, but to matters beyond that. He guided us with compassion, wisdom & always made him self available to help us with advice, tools or an ear to listen. Thankful for his leadership and for the positivity he provided during my time as an NWD scholar at SMU.
If you know me, you know am all about restorative practices and being trauma transformed. Finding Your Well is a significant part of my journey and what incorporate into my work daily. In the School of Public Health, we have the gift of having these trainings and supports for a second year and we are truly excited!
Cardum is highly knowledgable, dependable, dedicated and a team player. I wholeheartedly recommend her.
Cardum has vision, outlining amazing comprehensive and complex strategies to approach meeting human need. She has the broad background necessary to carry out her vision, with experience in a number of endeavors that will support her execution of the task at hand. Cardum is a delight to work with, bringing harmony to all her activities and fostering group cohesion.
It's my pleasure to endorse Dr.Penn. His workshop doesn't only provide helpful information to clients, but he also has this amazing ability to empower and to enrich the souls of the attendees. All my clients were 'glowing' after attending his workshop. I look forward to more partnerships with Dr.Penn and to assisting him to expand his horizon. Thank you, Marcus!
