We created Finding Your Well to help others define their "good" as an individual, group or organization. When you understand what your good looks and feels like, you can operate from a place of wholeness and better define your greatness.
As a change agent, Dr. Marcus Ade'shima Penn brings over 20 years of experience working with diverse populations. Conventionally trained as a medical doctor and traditionally trained as a healing practitioner, he's witnessed how cultural healing practices can greatly benefit communities and environments experiencing various trauma and internalized oppression. His training, based in mindfulness, yoga, meditation techniques, and the cultural influences of his heritage, informs his professional engagement philosophy.
By bridging the practices of equanimity, compassion, and acceptance across innovative platforms and developing adaptable and restorative self-care curricula for BIPOC and more populations, he has honed the skills for communicating universally. Through the use of these restorative self-care techniques, Dr. Penn taps into cultural mobilization practices, education and promotion, and holds space to relieve impact and overwhelm.
He previously served as faculty at Samuel Merritt University in Oakland, CA, partnered with their College of Nursing on the HRSA Nursing Workforce Diversity and Stronger Together Resilience Programs, and worked as the university's Faculty Diversity Coordinator. He was the first ever Restorative Officer out of the Center for Innovation and Excellence in Learning (CIEL), incorporating many restorative techniques and practices throughout the university.
Through the curation of his innovative RePAIR (Restoring Professional/Personal Accountability in Relationships) curriculum, trainings and tools, he supports wellbeing within various environments and changes the way individuals engage with each other around resolving conflict and harm.
At Finding Your Well, Dr. Penn's implementation of these techniques and approaches creates opportunities for greater accountability and healing.
As an empowerment intuitive, Cardum Harmon Penn guides others to define and find their wellness. She works one on one, with groups and organizations to build resilience and restore well-being for themselves and their communities.
As former CEO of Heart and Soul, Inc., Cardum promoted whole person-centered program models and trainings emphasizing an engagement philosophy focused on resiliency, recovery and healthy work environments. What inspires her most about such an approach is that it allows those in need to experience a process that is non-pathologizing, encourages empathetic responsiveness and places emphasis on an integrated approach. Based on the premise that crisis can be potentially transformative and a temporary, natural experience, she believes recovery is possible.
In her previous role as Program Manager for a nonprofit, Health and Human Resources Education Center, she successfully managed five innovative community health-focused programs bringing healing and education to the communities they serve. As a Campaign Manager for Alameda County’s 10x10 Wellness Campaign, she effectively maintained a diverse campaign steering committee and subcommittees. These county and community-based committees promoted wellness from a holistic perspective and a desire to reduce stigma by spreading awareness of mental health issues from a strength-based perspective.
With a Master’s degree in Culture and Spirituality, Cardum has studied and experienced various faith traditions and worked as a wellness consultant and retreat facilitator in the Bay Area for over 25 years.
At Finding Your Well, Cardum helps individuals, groups and organizations define their "good" by providing trainings, one-on-one support, strategic visioning to restore wellness, integrity and empowerment within diverse environments.
